Michael is Bellman’s Senior Picture Specialist who began his career as a porter at Sotheby’s in 1999.
He worked in the British & Continental Paintings Department for five years at Sotheby’s Olympia before moving to the New Bond Street saleroom in 2006. As Deputy Director of the Victorian & Edwardian paintings Department he ran the Sporting, Marine and Scottish sales. He was also expert in charge of the 2005 Trafalgar Bicentenary sale which realised over £5m.
In 2012 he became a director of a leading dealership in St. James’s, exhibiting at TEFAF Maastricht, Masterpiece, LAPADA and TEFAF New York before joining Bellman’s in 2020.
Most Memorable Moment: Securing for sale L.S. Lowry’s ‘The Railway Platform’ which realised over £1.1m.
