Pictures & Prints

Bellmans' Picture Department holds four annual specialist sales; two dedicated to Old Masters, British & European Paintings, and two dedicated to Modern British & 20th Century Art. In addition to these specialist sales there are regular monthly Interiors Auctions with a varied selection of paintings and prints at a range of prices.

Recent highlights include a rediscovered landscape by Joseph Wright of Derby which realised a hammer price of £135,000, ‘Harvest in Norfolk’ by Edward Seago that reached £27,000, a wonderful oil of Villefranch by Scottish Colourist George Leslie Hunter that made £68,000 and two watercolours, ‘Aerodrome’ and ‘Drought’, by Eric Ravilious which sold for £60,000 and £40,000 respectively.

Our specialists have a wealth of experience in the art world and are delighted to provide valuations and advice on all fine art, from a single painting, to a substantial collection or studio.

Valuations take place both in our Sussex Saleroom and our London office on Cromwell Place, South Kensington, as well as 'pop-up' valuation days across the country. Preliminary estimates can also be provided via our website and we are delighted to arrange home visits.
