Iain was at school in Winchester and began his career with Harrods in their auction room in London. Returning to Winchester in 1979, Iain joined Pearsons, and after a short time was managing their Tower House saleroom. Prudential acquired the Pearsons saleroom, where Iain became Regional Director. A future acquisition by Phillips, Son & Neale saw Iain taking responsibility as a director for their three salerooms in Hampshire and Dorset. With the merger of Phillips and Bonhams, Iain was appointed as a director of the U.K. Board, where he remained until joining Bellmans as a Senior Director in 2016.
Iain is responsible for organising the monthly auctions in Winchester, and his specialist areas include furniture, works of art and silver, as well as valuations for inheritance and insurance purposes - an area in which he has a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Most Memorable Moment: receiving a phone call from a lady who had a Salvador Dali in her wardrobe. It was an original that her husband's former wife had bought directly from the artist, and after she died her husband had put it in the wardrobe. It was sold for more than the house was worth!
