As a leading UK regional auction house, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting partnership that brings our world of art, antiques, and hidden treasures to the stunning surroundings of Borde Hill Garden.

As part of our pop-up valuation day series of events we are thrilled to be at Borde Hill — free of charge and without obligation - on 28 May 2025.

Valuation Days aren’t just about appraising objects; they are about discovery, storytelling, and human connection. We want to share what makes a valuation day such a unique and special experience for everyone involved.

The Joy of Discovery

At the heart of every valuation day is discovery. Whether it’s a long-forgotten painting in a loft, an heirloom brooch tucked away in a drawer, or a piece of vintage design rediscovered at the back of a cabinet, every object holds a story.

Visitors often arrive unsure of what they have, but they leave illuminated, with a deeper understanding of the history, craftsmanship, and potential value of their items. As specialists, we live for these moments — when an everyday object transforms into something remarkable through the lens of expertise.

A Window Into Personal Histories

Every item brought to a valuation day carries not just financial worth but emotional significance. A scruffy watch may have ticked away on a long passed relative’s wrist during historic events; A piece of jewellery may have been passed down through time, gathering stories with each new generation.

Valuation days create a safe, welcoming space where people can share their stories. They are as much about preserving memories and legacies as they are about market appraisals. And occasionally, those stories unlock entirely new narratives — leading to remarkable auction successes or museum-quality discoveries.

Expertise You Can Trust

At our pop-up valuation days, visitors can expect access to genuine expertise. Our team includes specialists across fine art, jewellery, watches, antiques, design, pictures and more — each passionate about their field and dedicated to sharing knowledge in a friendly and accessible way.

Importantly, valuations are free and without obligation whether in our Wisborough Green office, our London office or at Borde Hill, and all other events. Whether you wish to sell, insure, or simply learn more about a piece you cherish, our priority is to provide honest, insightful guidance without pressure.

An Inspirational Setting

The venue for our pop-up valuations could not be more inspiring. Borde Hill, with its rich heritage, historic house, and sweeping landscapes, perfectly mirrors the ethos of our events: a deep appreciation of the past, a celebration of beauty, and a curiosity about hidden gems.

We invite guests to combine their valuation visit with a stroll around the grounds, perhaps stopping for lunch or tea, making the day an enjoyable outing as well as a personal discovery. Those attending the valuation day gain 2 for 1 entry to the wider gardens.

Building Trust, One Conversation at a Time

As a regional auction house, we pride ourselves on personal service. Valuation days allow us to meet people face-to-face, answer their questions directly, and build long-term relationships based on transparency and trust.

In a world increasingly dominated by online transactions, these in-person moments are precious. They remind us that the business of art, antiques, and collectables remains, at heart, a human business — built on relationships, passion, and shared curiosity.

From Valuation to Auction Success (If You Choose)

For those who are interested, a valuation day can be the start of a journey that leads to the auction room — and sometimes to remarkable results. From achieving record prices to finding new homes where pieces are treasured anew, we’ve seen time and again how a simple valuation visit can unlock extraordinary opportunities.

But if you decide to sell or not, the experience of learning more about your pieces, and perhaps seeing them in a new light, is its own reward.

We warmly invite you to join us at Borde Hill Garden on Wednesday 28 May. Bring your treasures, your family stories, and your curiosity. We can’t wait to see what discoveries await.
