September Auction of Rare Antique Arms and Militaria
We are excited to announce a significant upcoming auction of antique arms and militaria to be held this September, featuring an exceptionally diverse collection of historical weapons from several private collections.
The sale encompasses an impressive array of antique firearms, including British military flintlock muskets and pistols bearing Tower and Hanoverian markings. Collectors will find examples from renowned provincial makers such as Fishenden and Wallis of Hull, alongside unique pieces like a musket with an innovative detachable bayonet stored within its butt.
Among the highlights is an exquisitely crafted Indo-Persian flintlock pistol with silvered mounts, exemplifying the artistic craftsmanship of historical weaponry. Other notable firearms include a rare revolving percussion rifle and numerous percussion belt pistols, some featuring distinctive skeleton butts and inlaid compartments.
The auction also boasts an exceptional selection of swords and edged weapons. British military enthusiasts will appreciate several 19th-century presentation swords, some bearing regimental inscriptions, and various volunteer pieces, including one specifically linked to the Edinburgh Volunteers.
For collectors of ethnographic weapons, the sale offers an extensive range of shamshirs, talwars, jambiyas, and khanjars, many showcasing detailed chiselled iron hilts, repoussé scabbards, and decorative mounts. The collection is complemented by an assortment of bayonets and short swords.
Additional items of interest include a pivoting gun rest and a textile-mounted arrow quiver containing 19 arrows, further highlighting the breadth of this comprehensive sale.
“This important auction represents years of dedicated collecting and features numerous pieces appearing on the market for the first time,” said a Bellmans spokesperson. “The diversity and quality of items available make this an exceptional opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts alike.”
