Autumn at Bellmans | The Waterhouse Collection
Bellmans are thrilled to present an exclusive collection of furniture, ceramics, works of art, clocks and paintings from The Waterhouse Collection. Furniture from the collection will feature in October's Furniture auction, West Sussex and online on 12th October from 1pm.
Renowned late Victorian architect, Alfred Waterhouse (1830-1905) is most known for his iconic and gothic design of The Natural History Museum, South Kensington, completed in 1880 and also for his first major work, Manchester Town Hall, which opened in 1877. He was also actively in the Royal Academy and a prominent figure within The Royal Institute of British Architecture.
The auction includes selected items from the current family home in Holland Park, and includes heirlooms from various previous family country and London homes, including Charney Manor in Oxfordshire, home to Lucy Waterhouse, Alfred's daughter in law and Yattendon Court (built by Alfred Waterhouse) and Fox Hill, Reading.
