Single Owner Collection of Indian & Moroccan Decorative Items & Antiques Totalled £50,000 on the 19th July

This July Bellmans Auctioneers, Wisborough Green, West Sussex, sold over 150 lots, combining antique and decorative items along with architectural heritage pieces from India & Morocco. This eclectic and unique single owner collection was offered for sale on 19th July and totalled £50,000. The evening was a great success, with nearly 70 registered online bidders and over 120 bidders at the saleroom. The evening was launched with a drinks reception and delicious Indian canapés, served by the Bellmans girls in sarees.

This diverse single owner collection held some very highly sought after items. Significant sale results included lot 2115 ( illustrated), an Indian red lacquer and gilt figure of the Hindu Deity Brahma, seated in the lotus position. After some competitive bidding in the saleroom and online, lot 2115 sold for £8,000 to a UK buyer. Another significant result was lot 2166, a large carved wood figure of standing Buddha, with hands in bhumisparsa mudra, which realised £3,400. The antique architectural temple doors and surrounds also sold extremely well. The sale of this collection was in association with Leo Vaughan-Williams & Associates, art advisors and curators. Leo Vaughan-Williams added ‘the sale was a great success and my client was delighted with the result’.

William Pasfield, Furniture specialist at Bellmans Auctioneers comments; ‘Bellmans are delighted with the sale of this very unique collection. It was fantastic to see so many new buyers at Bellmans and hope that everyone enjoyed the evening as much as the staff did’.
