Watercolours, Oil Paintings and Prints Specialist & Auctioneer
Having acquired a BA in History from Bristol University, James spent nine years at Sotheby’s Billingshurst where he developed his strong interest in pictures, and a wealth of knowledge in different art movements and eras - with a particular interest in 19th and 20th century oils and watercolours. Freelance from 2001 until 2014, we’re pleased to say that James now devotes his working life solely to Bellmans. When not kept busy by us, he relaxes by seeing some theatre and cinema, visiting museums and stately homes, and indulging his love of interior and garden design.
Most Memorable Moment: the discovery and identification of a ‘lost’ painting by Joseph Wright of Derby, sold at Bellmans for £135,000.
