The Asian art market has grown exponentially in recent years, and Bellmans has seen a significant rise in enquiries and successful purchasers from the Chinese mainland, America and Europe. Our experts specialise in Chinese, Korean and Islamic porcelain, paintings, silver and works of art in our quarterly specialist sales. Department auction highlights have included an 18th century Chinese Imperial bronze bell made for the Emperor’s Summer Palace which sold for £440,000. More recently a 16th century Tibetan gilt bronze of the female deity Green Tara which had been purchased at a car boot sale for £25, was brought in on one of our weekly free valuation days and went on to sell for £32,000.
Specialist Asian Art & Ceramics auctions are held bi-monthly in our Sussex Saleroom, and have a large international following. Specialist Asian art valuation days are held monthly at our Winchester saleroom.
