Welcome to Bellmans. 

As from 8 Aug face masks will be required to be worn by visiting clients.

Our offices and salerooms in Winchester, Hampshire; Wisborough Green, Sussex, and Brook Street, London are open by appointment.

Our valuations team is still on hand and would be delighted to hear from you, whether you have a single piece or a collection.

 As you will appreciate, there has been a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure our compliance with the new health and safety guidelines concerning Covid-19 to ensure the wellbeing of our customers and our staff.

As you will have become accustomed to over the last few months, we will now be adhering to social distancing, hand-washing, sanitising and so on.  To highlight how these changes will impact our services we have outlined below our new procedures.


  • A full risk assessment of the premises for Covid-19 compliance
  • Hand sanitiser stations at strategic points
  • Signage to remind social distancing must be adhered to
  • One-way flow system throughout the showrooms
  • Valuation area relocated for easier social distancing
  • Auction viewings by appointment to ensure a managed footfall
  • Auctions will be Live Online only, with telephone and absentee bids (no room attendance)
  • Cashier desk will be staffed with a perspex window
  • No saleroom reference catalogues available (please ask at the office if you require specific lot information)
  • Toilet facilities on a strict one-in-one-out system
  • Contract cleaning twice daily

We have extended our opening times for valuations - Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. We would encourage you to book a valuation time-slot to ensure you will be seen on arrival.  If you prefer not to pre-book, we will still be happy to undertake your valuation:  however, you may then need to wait.
We have moved the Valuation area to the main saleroom, to allow plenty of space for social distanciing for clients and staff.
Our valuers will be wearing gloves and masks; after you have unpacked your pieces, please step back 2m while they evaluate your items.
Porters will be on hand to assist with the unloading of vehicles, as before, whilst maintaining a 2m distance.

Viewing is by appointment.
Should you arrive without booking, we would of course be happy to try to accommodate you, subject to there being adequate space available in the building.  

For our Interiors Auctions, we will be open for viewing with extended times:
Friday 7 August: 9am-7pm
Saturday 8 August: 9am-12noon
Monday 10 August: 9am – 4pm
Tuesday 11 August: 9am – 11am

The Friday Auction can be viewed as above, and additionally
Tuesday 11 August  12noon - 4pm
Wednesday 12 August 9am – 4pm
Thursday 13 August 9am – 4pm

When viewing please ensure you maintain a 2m distance from others and follow the one-way traffic flow.
To inspect items behind the viewing counters, there will be 2m markings to ensure social distancing.
We request that clients hand sanitise before and after using the toilet facilities and keep to the one-in- one-out system, unless accompanying a child or someone with a disability.
We will not be offering refreshments, but look forward to the time when we can do so again.


IMPORTANT: Please note our sale structures have altered from the Bellmans norm.
There is strictly no attendance on auction days other than to pay and collect AFTER lots have been purchased;  please await confirmation you are the successful bidder before collecting.
We are more than happy to undertake phone bids on lots, however due to limited available of phone lines, these can only be on lots with a low estimates of £300 or more.

Please ensure that you are approved to bid online well in advance of the sale, as registering on The does not give you automatic approval to bid live at Bellmans.
Absentee bids can be left via our website or by contacting the office.


Please ensure you are the successful bidder before you arrive.  
You will be emailed an invoice after the conclusion of the last auction day.  
If you are a successful buyer we would encourage you to settle via bank transfer or debit card prior to collection.  We will not be accepting cash or cheque payments.
On arrival, please collect your clearance paperwork from Reception.  Porters will be available to assist you, maintaining social distancing.
You will not be required to sign for the goods: the porter will date the paperwork and ask for the name of the person collecting.

We are now inviting entries for our forthcoming 2020 auctions, including Asian Works of Art, Jewellery, Watches, Modern British Pictures, Fine Art, Silver and Fine Clocks.  We are available to provide valuations for auction estimates.  Should you wish to consign, we would be delighted to assist with collection arrangements and delivery of your items.
