December Antiques & Interiors Sale

A Continental flintlock hand mortar/grenade launcher, 18th century, with short brass turned barrel (16 cm), plain steel lockplate and engraved brass embellishments, set into a carved walnut stock (54cm overall).

Condition report

55cm overall. NOT painted or stripped.  The wooden body of the hand mortar has a repair beneath the barrel and there is also a pin/bolt missing from this area.  There is also another screw/bolt missing from the underside that would have secured the barrel, so the barrel is a little loose.  Small section/slither of wood missing between lockplate and barrel.  Lockplate is a little loose and needs securing. Lacking a small brass embelishment to the underside of the stock.  General wear consistant with age.
